The intersection of design, growth and business.
Every month, I'll take you behind the scenes of my entrepreneurial journey, sharing the real-world insights I've gained as a designer focused on growth, with over 14 years in the industry.
I’m Michael Wong, but you might know me as Mizko. Over the years, I’ve worn many hats: Founder, Educator, Investor, and Designer. It all started when I was 16 building landing pages to promote affiliate products. I accidentally stumbled into making my first $300K from my bedroom (in my boxers).
Very quickly I realised I could keep doing what I was doing, but the bigger opporutnity would be to enter the big bad world and expand my horizons.
I landed my first role as a junior designer and front-end developer @ Freelancer.com. I then transitioned into senior and lead roles at a few other high-growth tech startups and eventually moved into freelancing. Freelancing snowballed into starting my own successful UX design agency that generated over $10M from Product (UX/UI) Design, Web Design, and No-code Development. My leadership helped over 50 high-growth startups strategize and design their way to raising over $400M in venture capital.
Some of my standout projects include Autotrader (acquired by eBay), PhoneWagon (acquired by CallRails), Spaceship (managing $1B in funds), and Archistar (raised over $15M), among others.
In the last 6 years alone, as a solo-founder, I've generated more than $10M in revenue. While that might sound impressive, I believe there's always more to learn and share.
That’s why I created the Mizko Manual. It’s more than just a blog; it's a platform where I'll share all the real-world, practical, and unconventional processes, ideas, and concepts I've learned along the way. Join me on this journey to explore the nitty-gritty of design and entrepreneurship.
